A small guide
A note, without the ceremony.
A few things to know before you make yourself at home.
Start with a thought
Head to the note demo and type in “Your little note.” There’s one plain-text note, with no formatting tools or account to set up. The interactive demo needs JavaScript; the rest of this site does not.
Let your browser keep it
Each edit is saved to local browser storage when available. The message below the note tells you whether the latest version was saved. Return using the same browser, browser profile, and site address to find it again.
If storage is blocked or full, you can still write in the current tab. The status will say “Not saved.” Download a copy before you close or reload the page: the text in memory will otherwise be lost.
Take your words with you
Choose Download as text to save your current note as pebblepad-note.txt. It’s a plain-text file you can open in an ordinary text editor. Your browser decides where to save it or asks you to choose a location. Downloading does not clear the note.
Make a fresh start
Choose Clear note to empty the editor. If there’s any text, you’ll be asked to confirm first. Cancel to keep writing. Clearing cannot be undone, so download anything you want to keep before confirming.
Know the limits
- This is a single-note browser demo, not an installable app or a cloud-sync service.
- Other devices, browsers, and browser profiles have their own separate storage. Keep the note open in one tab to avoid one tab overwriting another.
- Private browsing may delete the note when the session ends. Clearing site data or browser storage can also remove it.
- Local saving is not a backup, an encryption feature, or a promise of offline access. Anyone with access to your browser profile may be able to read the note.
A good rule of thumb: if you’d miss it, download a copy. Read more about privacy and storage.
